Can you win from a loss?

Some things in life are very simple.  For example the fight game is a fickle business.  Only half of the athletes can get the win.  The highs of winning are so great and the lows of losing are so terrible.  Fans love winners and clown losers.

I don't see it that way.  I think you can win from a loss.  Take this fight for example.  John Freeman and Kerry Phan have competed against eachother in the past, both with one win.  These rivalries are healthy for the soul.

Kerry lost on points 6-4 John did amazing, but that doesn't diminish Kerry's performance.  Kerry pushed the action the whole time.  Every time Kerry would push John would respond.  This was a very exciting match.  I would love to see a 10 or 15 minute sub only match with these two.  I just hate to see that the time and points kept us from seeing what could've happened.  Maybe John gets the sub victory, maybe Kerry does.  The thing is we will never know.

There is something that happens to a young man when he decides to dedicate himself to a cause or martial arts.  They learn first that they are special, and they can achieve things that may appear outside their reach.  Hardwork and dedication directly equal success.  Have no dissolutions, success does not always equal victory.

If you choose to fight, embrace the grind.  You must be willing to lose in order to win, that's what makes this so great.  I am so proud of the way Kerry pushed and tried to win at all costs.  To me there was no loser in this match.  Kerry learned a lot about himself last night and this should fuel his future success and failures.
